Akreditasi dan Regulasi POCT. Point-of-care testing (POCT) adalah metode pemeriksaan dimana pemeriksaanya dilakukan di tempat dimana perawatan kesehatan dilakukan di dekat pasien. POCT juga dapat disebut sebagai pemeriksaan (1) “bed side,” (2) “near patient,” (3) “physician’s office,” (4) “extralaboratory,” (5) “decentralized,”(b) “off site,” (7) “ancillary,” (8) “altemative site” and (9) “unit-use“.
Standar Internasional ISO 22870, tentang Point-of-care testing (POCT) – Persyaratan kualitas dan kompetensi, mendefiniskan POCT adalah: “testing that is performed near or at the site of a patient with the result leading to possible change in the care of the patient”.
POCT memiliki banyak keuntungan, diantaranya adalah turnaround time (TAT) jadi berkurang, cepat menginterpretasi hasil dan cepat menentukan diagnosa, dan meningkatnya hasil kesehatan yang lebih baik.
Akreditasi dan Regulasi POCT
Akreditasi POCT harus menjadi bagian dari akreditasi keseluruhan layanan laboratorium medik, atau memang sebagai bagian dari akreditasi layanan klinis penuh, seperti yang telah terjadi di banyak negara, termasuk Amerika Serikat dan Inggris selama beberapa tahun.
Dengan demikian, undang-undang Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) 1988 di Amerika Serikat menetapkan bahwa semua POCT harus memenuhi standar minimum tertentu. Di Amerika Serikat, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations dan College of American Pathologists bertanggung jawab untuk memeriksa bagian dan masing-masing berkomitmen untuk memastikan kepatuhan dengan peraturan pengujian untuk POCT.
